slowly, slowly, this becomes a page for reflections.
My intention here is to encourage myself and create a place to organize my ideas & projects.
things to write about:
- why are romance book covers such a site of anti-fat bias, even if the mc is fat? (to be categorized under reading and embodiment.)
- I cannot count the number of times I've read a historical romance novel that features a main character described as fat, yet is depicted on the cover as thin. Recently, I was listening to Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas, a particularly pronounced example of this anti=fat marketing, and it has motivated me to write about this harmful practice.
- learning how to respect my body's new and changing limitations; how to understand injury as permanent and irreprable without recrimination. (to be categorized under embodiment.)
- the distinction between makeup as a creative, grounding process and makeup as a beautifcation, perfecting project. (to be categorized under adornment.)
